The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will offer admission to its Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Bachelor of Science (BS) programs through the Olympiad. Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the initiative aims to recognize top talent in science and mathematics by providing direct admission opportunities to students who demonstrate excellence in international Olympiads. To qualify for admission through the Olympiad route at IIT Kanpur, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Age Limit: Candidates should meet the age requirements set for the corresponding year’s JEE (Advanced) examination.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have appeared in the Class XII examination (or equivalent) for the first time either in the admission year or the previous year, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
Academic Performance: Candidates should have secured first-class marks in the qualifying exam.
Previous IIT Admission Status: Candidates should not have previously secured admission to any IIT through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) in the previous academic year.
Admission Status Post-Cancellation: If a candidate’s IIT admission was canceled for any reason, they are ineligible to reapply through this Olympiad route.
Olympiad Participation: The candidate must have attended the International Olympiad Training Camp in a relevant discipline recognized by the respective department at IIT Kanpur.
