Hello students, as you all know that the JEE Advanced 2024 exam is scheduled to be held on 26th May. According to media reports, 1.91 lakh candidates have applied for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam for admission to IIT colleges for the session 2024-25. Whereas 1.6 lakh candidates had applied in 2022 and 1.89 lakh candidates had applied in 2023.
If we look at the exam centers according to the states in JEE Advanced 2024, then Maharashtra has the maximum number of exam centers in 26 cities. In which Andhra Pradesh is at second place with 22 and UP is at third place with 15. While there are centers in 14 cities in Gujarat, 13-13 in Karnataka and Telangana, 11-11 in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and 10 cities in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, exam centers have been set up in Kota, Ajmer, Alwar, Sikar, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
IIT Madras has set up exam centers in 222 cities of India and three cities abroad. Where 1.91 lakh candidates are registered, out of these, the maximum exam centers are in 58 cities in IIT Madras zone, while 55 in Bombay, 29 in Roorkee, 26 in Bhubaneswar, 22 in Guwahati, 20 in Delhi and 12 in Kanpur.
IIT Madras has released the admit card of JEE Advanced on 17th May 2024. JEE Advanced 2024 exam will be conducted on May 26 in online (CBT) mode. So the aim of this blog post is to provide general instructions for the JEE Advanced 2024 computer-based test that every student should know. So Gurukripa experts have given some instructions below which you must read.

The screen of the computer system assigned to you would display your name, photograph and the JEE (Advanced) 2024 Roll Number.
You can login to the computer system assigned to you and start reading instructions 25 minutes before the start of the examination. Login id required for login is your JEE (Advanced) 2024 Roll No. and the password for login is your date of birth in ddmmyyyy format.
After logging in successfully, candidates will have to click on "proceed" which is there on the screen. The students will be able to start the exam only when the designated time has arrived.
The total exam duration will be 3 hours for each paper (4 hours for PWD candidates).
The keyboard will be disabled during the exam.
Candidates will have to answer using "mouse".
For questions to be answered with the keyboard, a virtual keyboard will appear on the screen just below the question description. The candidate has to use the on-screen virtual keyboard to enter the answer at the required place with the help of the provided computer mouse.
The candidate will be given another computer if the system malfunctions during the exam.
An automatic clock has been generated in the device. A designated time will be given to the candidates, where the time will be allotted for the login and log-out. When the clock reaches zero, the exams will stop automatically.
The question palette will show the number of questions answered, not answered, marked for review, and not visited.
Click on “Save & Next” to save the answer to any question. Clicking on “Save & Next” will save the answer for the current question and the next question will be displayed on the candidate’s computer screen.
Click on “Mark for Review & Next” to mark a question for review (with or without answering it) and proceed to the next question.
To deselect the chosen answer, click on the button of the chosen option again or click on the “Clear Response” button.
The candidates can click on the "profile image" on the left corner of the question paper to change the language of the exam.
Report to the examination center at 07:00 AM on the day of the examination. The examination will commence at 09:00 hours IST for Paper 1 and 14:30 hours IST for Paper 2.
You are advised to locate and visit the examination center a day before the examination, so as to ensure that on the day of examination you can reach the center on time.
In both the papers no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination center after the commencement of examination and you will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the completion of the examination.
You need to carry the following documents to the exam center: Admit card printout and at least one original photo identity card (Aadhaar, School ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card).
All the rough work MUST be done on the scribble pad given to you at the start of each paper. The scribble pad is for rough work ONLY. No extra scribble pad would be provided to any candidate.
You have to carry your own pen/pencil, it will not be provided at the exam center. And you should carry your own drinking water in a transparent bottle.
Candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the Exam Hall -
Smart/digital/programmable watches, analog watches, timepieces, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, smart glasses or any other electronic gadgets, any printed/blank/handwriting paper, log tables, writing pads, scales, geometry/pencil-boxes, pouches, calculators, pen drives, electronic pens, wallets, handbags, goggles or similar items are NOT allowed inside the examination center.
Candidates should not wear the following things in the examination hall -
Tabeez, items containing metals such as ring, bracelet, earrings, nose pin, chain/necklace, pendant, badge, brooch, hair pin, hair band, clothes with big buttons.
Candidates can wear open shoes like slippers and sandals in the examination hall.
The lab/hall/room number will not be displayed outside the test center to avoid crowding. Instead, the test center staff will escort the candidate to the respective lab/hall/room after scanning the barcode on the admit card.
The candidate must mark her/his attendance in each of the paper by signing besides her/his name in the space provided on the Roll List.
On completion of a paper, candidates will be allowed to exit in an orderly manner - one candidate at a time. Candidates are not to leave their seats until instructed to do so by the invigilator.
